Two Research studies in Sweden

Sweden: Tomatis Burn Out and Stress Rehabilitation, Results for 60 clients in Sweden
The Swedish Center in Stömstad, Sweden, completed a study in 2007 concerning 60 people in business who were either on disability leave or were unproductive at work due to signs of burnout, stress or depression. Their intention was to see if the Tomatis Method could rehabilitate these employees and get them back to a productive job. There were internationally accepted pre and post tests conducted as well as close coverage by medical doctors. Six months after completing the entire research project over one year, 94% of the 58 participants who completed the research were back at work and productive. This is significant data in a country that offers job security.

Sweden: Follow-up study of a Tomatis project with 26 children in Stromstad, Sweden  original study 2000-2002; follow-up study 2004-2006
Ulla Staf, clinical psychologist, conducted a follow-up study to see if the resulting changes from the original study were maintained. There were completed questionnaires from 48 parents in the first study and 36 of these same parents in the follow-up study.  The Tomatis training was given to 26 children for 75 listening hours to monitor change for the following: attention, expression, motoric, energy level, behavior and social functioning, and overall change.

These are the results after 75 hours of Tomatis training:

% = change from start      First Study      Second Study
Attention     30%   51%
Motoric    22%   27%
Expression     21%   39%
Energy level       30%    32%
Behavior and Social Functioning     24%   51%
Overall Mean   25%    42%

The results were statistically significant in several areas showing that the participants not only maintained their changes, but also continued to improve in all areas.
